Although placed randomly by machinery, straw bails always seem to have a rhythm and pattern to them, as they rest on the stubble.
My viewpoint, chosen to explore this pattern and aid composition, also allowed the oblique lighting of the evening sun to emphasise the warmth and texture of the scene.
Two Swallows flying around the bails just had to be included in the final painting.
