My home county of Suffolk, England, is largely agricultural and scenes such as this are common place during the summer months. Walking around this Selwyn paddock, evoked so many memories which provided the inspiration for this painting.
Early evening sunlight emphasised the overall texture and strong directional lines of stubble, created by the harvester.
Whatever my original attention with regard to form, pattern and composition, this painting ultimately became a portrait of a straw bale.
